About Oak House:
Oak House is a non-profit organization that provides recovery support to adults in Seneca, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Wyandot Counties. Our purpose is to support those who are facing the challenges of mental health conditions, chronic mental illnesses, and substance use disorders with compassion. We want to establish a positive and fulfilling recovery environment that is based on community connection and meaningful engagement.
Our diverse program offerings, such as Recreational Trips and Social Activities, form the foundation of our approach. Recreational Trips allow our members to extend their horizons, participate in a variety of social events, and develop valuable interpersonal relationships. Our Social Activities program strives to promote social connection and skill development via entertaining group activities like bingo and artistic projects like craft-making.
Our Support Groups and Peer Support program are crucial to our efforts. Support Groups, such as NAMI Connections, and recovery meetings like Alcoholics Anonymous and Taking Back Ohio, provide a safe space for people to share their stories and work together to recover. In collaboration with Hope Recovery Network, the Peer Support program matches participants with peers who have had similar experiences, providing important, empathic guidance along the recovery road.
Our Self-Guided Meditation program also teaches our members how to create inner calm and resilience, allowing them to better manage stress and anxiety.
Oak House transcends the function of a recovery center through these comprehensive activities, creating a platform for personal growth, skill development, and reconnection with the community. We try to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment in individuals, increasing their entire recovery process and facilitating a better reintegration into society.
